soooo....i'm bored

I've online shopped, I've Pinterested, I've watched every movie and tv show on my list.

Speaking of which.

Dear Breaking Bad,

Or, Dear Walt and Jesse,

Or, Dear Gus, Tuco, and scary bad give me nightmares Mexican Twins with the axe,

You all have messed me up in a very big way, but still, I can't quit watching you.

You are disturbing on many levels, but your fascination and intrigue always wins out.

I can't wait for August 11th!

Sincerely,

Walt's currently bald female twin,

Teresa

p.s. Mom? Do. Not. Watch. Breaking Bad. Stick to the Jane Austin classics on BBC. Trust me.

Moving on.

My boredom has inspired me to get my camera out, and I recently set out to somewhat emulate the gorgeous darker, richer style of food photography that seems to be what all the cool kids are doing these days.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, you can take a peek here. Darker exposures and wood props, etc. I love it. It's beautiful.

Local Montana cherries were recently on sale, so I stocked up and decided to give the style a try.

I grabbed an apple box and a gingham tablecloth and lowered my exposure just a tad from where I'd normally shoot.

I like the results. A lot! I've got nothing on the pros, but not too bad for my first time out.

But then I remembered the cherry pictures I took a few years ago, so I went searching through my portable hard drive till I found them.

While I love the new cherry pics, these are so much more me.

Lighter.

Brighter.

And one of my favorite color combos.

Feel free to chime in with your favorite and have a fabulous Tuesday!

  3. Honestly, I like them both. However, I am partial to the lighter, brighter. I just love a cheery look, a happy look!
Thinking of you with positive and peaceful thoughts,

  4. You did great with both! But honestly, the lighter brighter ones just call out "Meadowbrook Farm" to me. The first day I stumbled on your page, the light bright beautiful images were what drew me in. (and then of course all the rest of it kept me here!) If you're still bored, maybe make a photobook of your favorite images? It kept me sane while recuperating from pneumonia. Hope your days are looking up!

  5. Teresa, I like your old cherry pics so much more.
    I don't watch scary movies, I can easily get scared without them:}
Soooo, you are bored? Wish I could keep you company. I would cook you some Mexican food : )

  7. Both are beautiful!! I don't think you can take a bad photo of beautiful cherries. ;) The second set feels more retro. :)

  8. I've thought my whole life as an artist (I began drawing at 4) - that one should follow one's own muse and do what YOU like as that makes it unique and YOURS. So, I like what YOU like best as it's YOU. :-) I'm so glad to see you more. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  9. The new ones are more moody and artsy looking but the old are happy gems. I'll take happy gems anytime.

  11. I like all of the photos . . . Although the contrast of the shiny red cherries with the light blue tablecloth makes for a beautiful photo and is my favorite . . .

  12. I will gladly tell you anything you want... as long as you keep blogging. You're like a ray of sunshine that I've been missing. Your new photos are beautiful. The old ones? Well, for one -- are those the same kind of cherries? They are so red -- almost like cherry tomatoes!! Also... I love the colors in the photos. The cherries are very-Mary ...Englebreit, that is. That's a compliment. You know, in case you're not a fan of Mary's style. Keep doing all the things you do Teresa-Mandisa. Love ya! ~Sal

  15. I almost texted you six times yesterday about BB. It hit me that I'd forgotten to grill you with questions the day before. That show has ruined Cory for LIFE. He swears that no other show will ever compare. I skipped seasons 1.5-3 because something traumatized me in the second or third episode, but I slowly found my way back and fell into the deep end. So, I'm coming over on August 11th. Nevermind that it's Ruby's birthday. And I'll be in Ethiopia (or "Ethreeopia, as calvin says).

As for the cherries? Bump up that exposure! I mean, yes, I'm in awe of that first "dark" pic. How are your shiny spots in focus on ALL of them? I'm so dumb with a camera. It should be a crime for me to use one...

Have a great day, T-Bone. Miss ya like cray.

  16. Bored? I guess the dog days of summer will do that to a girl. Would love to watch BB, but I know myself well enough to know that it's not a show that I should watch ... can't do it.

  17. I think I had better stick to Jane Austen like your Momma.

I like the old school cherry pics. Because they are more my style too. And while I can appreciate the beauty of a different style than my own, it's not what makes my heart sing.

I bet you rock bald. Pure beauty pouring out of your heart and face with no hair to distract from it.

  18. I think the "cool kids" photos look instagrammy (that's a new word). It's definitely a neat look, but I think I like your light, bright and colorful ones better. Plus they look yummier. And if you're going to photograph food, go ahead and make it look yummy!

  19. I live for the photos on your blog and I check often to see what new photos you have posted. I would give anything to have a camera like yours. I know its exspensive and you are very lucky to have it. Your world looks so beautiful and you are lucky for that too. I am sorry you are not feeling well and hope you feel better soon. You've made so many people happy, happy, happy and thats a wonderful thing. Take care and feel better. We would all be lost without you.

  21. Breaking Bad has somehow made it's way onto my tivo -- I started mid-story and am racing to the end. I love/hate it. I blame Downton Abbey for making me wait.

  22. Oh - I love the old ones because that blue and red.. just divine. so happy.
I almost got sucked into BB but I found the Walking Dead on Netflix around the same time, and in two days fell down that rabbit hole! Couldn't believe it! Never thought I'd go in for zombies but oh my. I am sort of ruined as well. I look at all gardeing tools as potential weapons now.

  23. I like your older lighter brighter photos. Beautiful.
